Catalog data and checkout
Products have native price, option, quantity and inventory-tracking fields. Checkout checks recorded stock when tracking is enabled; an untracked quantity is not a promise of live availability. A cart preview shows items and totals before the customer confirms an order.
Set up the purchase path
Publish accurate product options and prices, then choose which items track inventory. Online payment requires a configured, currently eligible payment provider. Without one, customers can still confirm an order using the business's manual payment instructions, and the business checks payment and fulfillment afterward.
Payment and after-sales limits
Online payment depends on the enabled provider and its current availability. Staff should reconcile payment against the order and the provider's returned status, checking the dashboard when payment, notices or inventory need attention. Refund options depend on provider capability and transaction conditions.
What to prepare in the catalog
Give each product a name, description, price, publish status and the options customers actually choose. Check the amount and option shown on the public page before sharing it. A product description explains what is being sold; it does not by itself prove current stock, a delivery date or suitability for a particular customer. If several items sound similar, distinguish their specifications so the customer and staff can identify the same item at checkout.
What happens between cart and order
A cart records the customer's selected lines, while an order is a separate confirmed record. Before creating an order, the system checks the current catalog data and calculates quantity and total in code. The customer should review the items, options, amount and contact details before confirming. Changing the cart does not silently amend an order that has already been created; staff and customers should refer to the order's own status for what happened next.
Payment and staff handoff
Available payment choices come from the providers the business has configured and enabled, rather than from the assistant's wording. When more than one provider is usable, the customer can choose at checkout. A payment attempt and a paid order are different states: staff should verify the provider result and order record, especially after a delayed notification or an interrupted browser return. Where online payment is unavailable, a business can provide manual payment instructions and reconcile receipt itself.
Changes that need a fresh check
A price or option may change after an earlier conversation, so an old message is not a final quote. Tracked inventory can prevent a purchase when recorded quantity is insufficient; untracked inventory still needs staff confirmation if availability matters. An abandoned payment should be checked against the same order instead of assuming a new order is needed. Cancellation, refund and fulfillment decisions must use the order state and the applicable payment provider conditions; a chat reply alone cannot settle them.
Common questions
Can orders work without an online payment provider?
Yes. The business can show manual payment instructions and confirm receipt after the order is placed.
Is the displayed stock always live availability?
No. Products have quantity and inventory-tracking fields; staff should confirm supply when tracking is off or data has not been updated.
Does adding an item place an order?
No. The customer reviews the cart and confirms before an order is created.
Why might an old chat price differ from checkout?
Checkout checks the current published product and option data; staff should resolve any discrepancy before payment.
Where do I check whether payment succeeded?
Use the order status together with the payment provider result; a browser redirect alone is not proof of receipt.
